HP 8782 Power Problem

After removing the top cover, you can flip down the face by undoing 4 torx screws. At the left, you can see the green wire and connector connected to the power switch. From the size of the wires and the small connector, we can infer that the power switch is a "soft switch". This means that there is most likely DC voltage impressed on it as long as the mains cord is plugged in - could be for decades, maybe. If that is the case, then any moisture in the environment may cause a lot of corrosion to occur - galvanic effect. .... I start to smell a rat...
